Search for Missing Brown Student Expands

BROWNPROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The sister of a Brown University student who was last seen on campus a week ago says the FBI is helping Providence police in the search for her brother.

The Providence Journal reports that Sangeeta Tripathi says the wallet, ID cards, credit cards and cell phone belonging to Sunil Tripathi were found in his room.

He is a philosophy major at Brown who grew up in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He has been living in Providence since 2008 and was on approved leave from the Ivy League school.

Brown spokeswoman Darlene Trew Crist said Saturday that Providence and Brown police departments are leading the missing person investigation.

The search has expanded outside Providence to Boston, Connecticut, New York and Philadelphia. Tripathi was last seen in the campus area on March 15.
