(ABC) — Four siblings got the best gift of the year Friday when their soldier dad surprised them at their Framingham schools. Army Sgt. Mousa Dassama, 31, planned to surprise his kids with military precision. They were his first stops on his return home from a nine-month tour of Afghanistan. Dassama carefully timed his return to Massachusetts, driving 36 hours from Texas, spent a night at a hotel and came to Stapleton Elementary Friday morning.
He called his third-grade son, Mousa, and kindergarten daughter, Marcia, on the phone Friday, as he often did from Afghanistan. When the two reported to the gym to join their classmates, Dad was waiting with hugs from his children and applause from their classmates. A short time later, there were screams at Cameron Middle School, where Dassama and his wife, Christine, greeted his oldest daughters, Sullay, and Miatta, who are in sixth and seventh grades.
Dassama and his family will have a dinner reunion Friday night. He is on a 30-day leave and returns to Fort Hood where he is based at the end of his break.
