Italy High Court Overturns Knox Acquittal

People-AMANDA KNOX

ROME (AP) — Amanda Knox says it’s “painful” to have her acquittal on murder charges overturned by Italy’s highest criminal court but she’s confident in the truth, and says remaining questions about her case must now be examined by objective and capable prosecutors.

In a statement Tuesday, Knox said the Perugia prosecutors’ theory of her involvement in the murder of British roommate Meredith Kercher is “completely unfounded and unfair.”

She says: “No matter what happens, my family and I will face this continuing legal battle as we always have, confident in the truth and with our heads held high in the face of wrongful accusations and unreasonable adversity.”
