SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield Police are looking for two men who robbed an insurance agency more than two years ago.
Back on March 7, 2011, TKO Insurance used to sit at 445 Main Street.
Around 11 a.m. that morning, police say 39-year-old Milton Cedeno Santiago and 29-year-old Leonel Colon-Ortiz decided to make an unexpected visit.
“Both these guys entered this establishment wearing masks,” says Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney. “They had hooded sweatshirts on, different other shirts and they had blue plastic gloves, and they came in with a handgun.”
No one was injured in the hold up, but the men were able to flee toward Emerson Wight Park with cash from the insurance agency.
Ortiz and Santiago evaded police that day, but they left behind something valuable in the park — two pairs of plastic gloves with their DNA inside.
“And it’s not like it is on CSI, where you see on TV — 20 minutes later it comes back,” says Delaney. “It takes a long time and we just got a hit on it.”
He adds, “Our detectives then filed for warrants on these guys, these guys did the armed robbery.”
Now Springfield Police are working to track them down.
