SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — There’s good news tonight for PVTA bus riders.
The PVTA advisory board voted on a draft budget for the agency Wednesday.
Despite a budget defeicit, PVTA administrator Mary MacInnes feels the agency can get by without putting that deficit on the backs of its riders. “We do show a deficit of a little less than a million dollars, but we are not recommending there be a fare increase, so there is no fare increase in that fare budget,” she says.
MacInnes feels additional state aid will cover the deficit.
The board went along with MacInnes’ recommendation and voted for the draft budget without raising fares.
