Luckily, sound carries in their neighborhood and police were dispatched before things got too ugly.
Police say they’ve been looking for 20-year-old Carlos Mitchell Rivera for a few weeks now, after they were dispatched to his mobile home on Pioneer Way off of Boston Road.
“Mr. Rivera had a stranglehold, a choke-hold on his girlfriend,” says Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney. “They have a 9-month-old baby inside the house and during the assault and the altercation, Mr. Rivera tried to grab the 9 month old out of the mother’s arms. ”
Delaney says Rivera’s girlfriend was able to place the baby in a safe spot inside the house during the altercation, but Rivera still managed to assault his girlfriend before police arrived.
“Police arrived and we locked up Mr. Rivera,” says Delaney. “He went to court, but he’s in default right now — he’s kind of dodging these charges.”
Now, police are hoping your tips can help get Rivera back in custody.
