SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Hundreds turned out Friday in the North End to observe the last hours of Jesus Christ.
The Blessed Sacrament Parish hosted its annual Good Friday procession through the streets of Springfield.
Actors portrayed the journey Jesus took to his crucifixion and the suffering he endured along the way.
For those in the community, it’s become a time-honored tradition.
“We have come and seen this every year and watch it and today, we are participating because it’s an important event to re-enact the death of Jesus Christ,” says Springfield resident Jose Claudio.
Good Friday is one of the holiest occasions on the Christian calendar, marking the day many believe Jesus Christ was crucified and died at Calvary.
