Easthampton Man Sentenced to Nearly 3 Years for Counterfeit $20 Bills

Gavel and CuffsSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — An Easthampton man has been sentenced to almost 3 years in jail for counterfeiting United States currency.

36-year-old, Shayne Pancione was sentenced to 33 months today in U.S. District Court in Springfield by Judge Ponsor.  Following his prison sentence, Pancione faces another 3 years of supervised release.

Back on February 14, Pancione plead guilty to manufacturing and distributing counterfeit $20 bills in Easthampton and Southampton between August 28, 2011 and September 6, 2011.

The announcement about his sentencing was released today by the United States Attorney’s Office, the United States Secret Service, and Easthampton Police Chief Bruce McMahon.
