Mass. Small Claims Court Forms in More Languages

Court2BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts court officials say people who struggle with the English language could now find it easier pursue justice in small claims court.

The Supreme Judicial Court says small claims forms and instructional materials are now available in seven of the most commonly spoken non-English languages in Massachusetts.

Those seeking help filing a small claims case can now get forms and directions in Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, traditional Chinese and Khmer.

A grant paid for the translation project, and the materials are available online and at court clerk offices.

Housing Court Judge Dina Fein says improving the ability of people in the linguistic minority to resolve disputes makes the courts more open.
