Conn. Law Enforcement Locate Escaped Prisoner

03474911NIANTIC, Conn. (WGGB) — A Connecticut inmate is back in custody tonight after causing a full-scale search when she escaped from York Correctional Institution in Niantic early this morning.

Just after 6 a.m. Sunday, the facility went into lock down and began an emergency count when correctional officers noticed an inmate, 49-year-old Lori Beyus of Torrington, Conn., was missing during breakfast in the facility’s dining hall.

Beyus entered the system on November 2nd as a temporary surrender on a robbery charge and is currently serving a 51-month sentence.

Almost twelve hours later, around 5:40 p.m. Sunday, investigators received information that Beyus was seen along I-95.

Search teams comprised of Conn. State Police and Correctional Officers went out and were able to take Beyus back into custody around 6:15 p.m.

Beyus has been since returned to the York Correctional Institution.
