Hard Rock Presents Traffic Plans to West Springfield

hard rockWEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Hard Rock International developers revealed traffic plans tonight for their proposed casino on the Big E fair grounds in West Springfield.

The new plan creates what developers call a “Route 5 relief valve.” It would be a second means of direct access into the Eastern States Exposition site and developers say it would relieve congestion in the area.

The plan also includes circulation and safety improvements to the Memorial Avenue rotary.

In addition, new signals, crosswalks and turning lanes would be added to Memorial Ave.

Jim Allen, Chairman and CEO of Hard Rock International told us, “We look at this not just as addressing traffic issues, not just for the new Hard Rock destination resort and entertainment complex, but really more about how we can enhance traffic flow in the overall area.”

The plan also calls for more on-site parking and a regional shuttle and transportation center.
