Judge Denies Defense Request In Baye Arson Case

bayeNORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — The judge in the Anthony Baye arson case has denied the defense’s request for a dismissal of charges, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities say the 27-year-old Baye set a series of fires in December 2009. One of those fires killed 81-year-old Paul Yeskie Sr. and 39-year-old Paul Yeskie Jr.

Baye faces 42 charges, including multiple counts of arson and two counts of murder.

Baye’s lawyers argue there’s not enough evidence against him in the case.

The District Attorney’s office says the prosecution is reviewing the ruling and preparing for trial.
