Leaking Package at Agawam Post Office Not Dangerous
AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB) — Investigators have determined that a substance found leaking from a package at the Agawam post office was not dangerous.
Around 8:15 a.m. Thursday, HAZMAT crews were called to the building after an employee came into contact with a package that was leaking.
That substance was found to be a concentrated, slightly corrosive cleaning solution that had been shipped in the mail.
Once two workers came into contact with the solution, their skin began to itch. Both those workers were treated on the scene.
HAZMAT crews are currently clearing the scene and the post office is expected to reopen early Thursday afternoon, once employees can get back inside.
