SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — Springfield Central Library celebrated a milestone tonight… a gala to honor 100 years of the historic library.
Mayor Domenic Sarno was the honorary chair — and donor Andrew Carnegie (as portrayed by an actor) talked about the importance of the library.
“And when I found myself in a position to do something like that,” said ‘Carnegie’. “I was more than willing to set up a fund so that I could make sure that other people were a lot more fortunate than I was when it came to reading. Access to reading is really crucial.”
Congressman Richard Neal also spoke tonight.
They held a silent auction to raise funds for the library.
