Conn. Man Held on Threatening Governor, Gun Charge
BARKHAMSTED, Conn. (AP) — A man charged with threatening Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and illegally possessing an assault rifle has been arraigned on charges of threatening and illegal possession of an assault weapon.
Fifty-nine-year-old John Montysko of Barkhamsted was arraigned Monday in New Britain Superior Court.
State police say they arrested Montysko at his home Friday after WFSB-TV reported a threatening comment posted on its website on April 14. Troopers say they found several weapons at Montysko’s home, including an AK-47 that is illegal to possess in Connecticut.
Montysko was charged with threatening and inciting injury to a person. State police did not provide details about the threat.
Montysko was held Monday on $220,000 bail. It’s not known if a lawyer is representing him.
