Holyoke Police to Hold Prescription Drug Collection Event


HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Those who have cabinets and drawers full of old medications will be able to safely dispose of them this weekend.

This Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., members of the Holyoke Police Department will be collecting old medications in an effort to safely get rid of them.

The items can be brought down to Holyoke Police headquarters at 138 Appleton Street.

Items that will be accepted:

  • Prescription Medicine
  • Non-Prescription Medications
  • Vitamins
  • Veterinary Medications

Items that will NOT be accepted:

  • Needles
  • Syringes
  • Lancets
  • Thermometers
  • IV Bags
  • Chemo Drugs
  • Liquids of any type

Holyoke Police Lt. Matthew Moriarty adds that no questions will be asked. The event is sponsored by Holyoke Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
