South Hadley House Fire Knocked Down, Homeowner Transported to the Hospital

South Hadley House Fire 4 23 13

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — A fire at a home in South Hadley this evening has sent one man to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The town Fire Department was notified of the house fire just before 6:10 p.m.

Firefighters responded to the scene immediately and found smoke coming from the backside of the home. They were able to put out the fire fairly quickly though.

The home located at 335 Granby Road suffered significant damage as a result.

Fire Captain Jim Pula told ABC40, “Damage was to the floor, a portion was gone, the living room and the basement.  The whole house was damaged with heavy smoke and heat.”

Pula says the homeowner, a man, was transported to the hospital.  No word though on what his injuries are.  He also said the family cat died in the fire.

At this time the South Hadley Fire Department says they continue to investigate what caused this fire to start.
