Shelburne Arson Suspect Held without Right to Bail

SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. (WGGB) — A man accused of trying to burn down a Franklin County home has appeared before a judge.

32-year-old Jeremiah Longe is facing a charge of arson of a dwelling after the fire late Tuesday night on Barnard Road in Shelburne Falls.

Teams from several surrounding communities showed up to help provide assistance and water to fight the flames.

Jennifer Mieth, spokesperson for the state’s Department of Fire Services, says that the fire was arson and appears to be related to an incident of domestic violence.

Longe was ordered held without the right bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Friday.

Two people were in the home at the time of the fire and we’re told they made it out safely without injury.
