Early Childhood Education Stressed At Morning Breakfast

early childhoodSPRINGFIELD, Mass (WGGB) — Early education is critical. That was the theme, as Square One and Springfield College hosted an advocacy breakfast for improved early childhood care today. A group of freshman, who are part of the “emerging leaders” program at Springfield, chose to research early childhood education this entire school year. Legislative aides and community leaders gathered Friday to talk about the role early education plays in the community and the importance of giving it appropriate attention.

“The message they most want them to hear is that early childhood education is critical in the formation of a number of academic and social development skills for young children and investing in children at a young age will create a better future for our whole, city, our state, and our country,” Program Coordinator Charlene Elvers said.

First year students in the program pick a different community need to study each year.
