NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WGGB) — A Florence teenager is hoping to bring a music scene to our area, so he’s starting his own production company.
On a Saturday night, Northampton’s VFW is jumping. Concertgoers are out to enjoy music from local artists
18-year-old Anibal Cuello is hosting his first music showcase.
Noticing there aren’t very many platforms to launch western Massachusetts musicians, Cuello started managing productions.
“I’ve known like bigger people, people that could be really big give up just because they don’t know the right people. Why not give everybody a chance who is going through that same problem?” Cuello says.
Cuello’s footing the bill out of pocket, using the money he makes from his day job at a packaging company to buy equipment and fund shows. He says the VFW gave him a chance by allowing him to use their space, so Cuello can give others a chance to fullfill their dreams.
“In the process of me doing this, hopefully I’ll get it so big that people will know where to go. They’ll say ‘oh that’s the music spot, that’s where they’ll go to hear good music, local music,” says Cuello.
Eventually Cuello says he wants to open his own home studio, so folks can come here and record their own EP in Florence,
Cuello says he’s planning his to have his next show in mid-June.
