BOSTON (AP) — The lawyer for the chemist charged with faking results and tampering with evidence at a state drug testing lab says he has had “cursory” talks about a possible plea.

Nicolas Gordon, a lawyer for Annie Dookhan, says he’s holding off on any in-depth discussions until a judge addresses several charges he is calling a “stretch.”

Gordon and prosecutors are expected to appear Friday in Suffolk Superior Court to argue his motion to dismiss multiple counts of witness intimidation against Dookhan.

The charges stem from allegations she lied on the stand about having a master’s degree. Gordon tells the Boston Herald (http://bit.ly/17mer4f ) the charges are not in the spirit of the law.

A spokesman for the attorney general’s office defended the charges, saying they “are supported by the evidence.”
