Construction is set to begin soon on the new library, which will be located on the corner of Canal and Main Streets.
The $7 million dollar project is set to be complete by the fall of 2014. It will replace the town’s existing library that was built in 1906.
The new library, which will be funded through state grants, town borrowing, and private donations, will feature more parking and be fully handicap accessible.
The groundbreaking was part of a greater day of activities in South Hadley Falls which included the Canal Village Potpourri and the town Cultural Council’s Creativity Days.
