Springfield & State Police Chase, Catch Suspect

ArrestSPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – Chicopee police say a 54 year-old man from Feeding Hills led them on a wild chase that finally ended on Moore Street.

James Lewis is now facing 18 charges in all, including 9 counts of assault with a deadly weapon – his vehicle… 4 counts of leaving the scene of property damage, assault with intent to murder, resisting arrest, and drugs violation.

The chase began just before 3 Saturday afternoon when Springfield police tried to stop a Nissan Quest in relations to a series of break-ins.

The driver took off…a nd police say he tried to ram several cruisers and officers.

Eventually, state police were called in… and used a tire deflation devise to stop the driver.

Lewis is currently being held on 5-thousand dollars bond and will be arraigned tomorrow in Chicopee district court.

    He actually TRIED to hit the troopers? My guess is just like on COPS they jump in front of the car, then out of the way, and claim he was trying to run them down. $10 he gets off on that, since he had no intent to hit them, and just wanted to escape.
