Holyoke Brush Fire Backing Up Traffic on 91HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) – A brush fire along 91 South in Holyoke caused bumper to bumper traffic for miles this afternoon.
Several fire crews responded, including Holyoke, Northampton, and the State Forestry Department.
The first call came in just before noon of a brush fire near the rest area on 91 South by Mount Tom.
Fire crews had to restrict traffic to one southbound lane for equipment to be brought in, as there was no water source.
Several tanker trucks were needed, and because of that cars were backed up for about 5 miles between Holyoke and Northampton.
The Holyoke fire department remained on the scene until sundown.
They say the fire is out and no one was injured.
