Springfield House Fire Causes Over $100,000 in Damages

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Firefighters in Springfield have been able to knock down flames that erupted at a home on Texel Drive tonight.

The call was received by emergency responders just before 7:00 p.m. today.

When firefighters arrived they found flames coming out of the home.

Crews were able to bring the fire which occurred mainly to the back-side of the home, under control fairly quickly.

The house is a multi-story home located at 61 Texel Drive in Springfield.

According to Dennis Leger, Aid to the Fire Commissioner, 2 people who were home at the time were able to escape without injury.

Those two people have been displaced.

Leger says the fire started at the back of the house, in an enclosed porch.

The backside of the home sustained significant damages in the fire and Leger estimates it at $125,000 or more.

The fire is not considered suspicious.
