Next Google ‘Doodle’ Could Come from West Springfield

googleWEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The next Google doodle could come from a West Springfield student.

John Fausey Elementary School fifth grader Harrison Sloat won this year’s “Doodle 4 Google” contest in Massachusetts.

He is now one of 50 finalists, one from each state, competing for his chance to be a featured as a Google doodle on the search engine’s homepage later this month.

The theme was “My Best Day Ever.”

“So we went on a hayride, and got pumpkins, and we made a scarecrow and the leaves were falling from the trees and we went in a corn maze, and it was a good day,” says Harrison.

His brother, Emery, adds, “I’m happy for him that he won the contest.”

“The winner receives a $30,000 tech scholarship and a $50,000 scholarship for their school, so our mantra is vote for Sloat,” adds Principal Susan Mulvaney.

His work will be on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Voting is open from now until the May 10. He’s even got his very own slogan, “Vote for Sloat”.
