SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — After the first day of jury selection, five people have been chosen from the jury pool.
Jury selection began Monday in the trial of accused arsonist Anthony Baye.
Baye is charged with starting more than a dozen fires in Northampton on the night of December 27, 2009.
Two people were killed during that spree of fires.
A pool of more than 80 potential jurors were in court Monday morning for the first day of jury selection.
Opening arguments and testimony could begin as early as Wednesday.
The trial is expected to last about three weeks.
Baye is charged with two counts of murder and more than two dozen arson-related counts.
Jury selection will resume Tuesday in Hampden County Superior Court.
