SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Police have made an arrest in a shooting last month that injured two people.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that investigators arrested 36-year-old Jose Lopez of Springfield Tuesday morning and charged him with two counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a loaded firearm, malicious damage, and assault and battery with dangerous weapon (firearm).

Delaney adds Lopez is suspected in the shooting of two people on Liberty Street, near Columbia Terrace, on April 23.

Officers were called to that area after ‘ShotSpotter’ indicated that eight shots had been fired. When they arrived, they found two people shot, one in the ear and the other in the leg.

Both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital.
