Eight People Displaced Following Oak Grove Ave. Fire


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Several people have been forced from their homes following a Wednesday afternoon fire.

Crews were called out to a duplex at 275-277 Oak Grove Avenue, near Bay Street, around 1:30 Wednesday.

Dennis Leger, aide to Springfield’s fire commissioner, says that the fire began in the basement.

No people were injured, but one cat did died in the fire, Leger adds.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist eight people who have been displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
