Car Crashes Into House in Palmer, 2 People Taken to the Hospital
PALMER, Mass. (WGGB) — Emergency personnel are investigating an accident involving a car that crashed into a home in Palmer this evening.
The call came in to authorities at 7:12 p.m. The multi-family home is located at 92 Springfield Street in the Three Rivers section of Palmer.
Firefighters and police responded to the scene of the accident within minutes.
Palmer Police Sgt. Christopher Burns says, “Two females in the car were injured and taken to Baystate (Medical Center). One has possible serious injuries. They were traveling eastbound and went across the westbound lane crashing into the front porch of the multi-family home.”
When the vehicle hit the home it reached the brick foundation wall and pushed it in a few inches. Sgt. Burns says that the State Building Inspector and the Board of Health have been called in to inspect the home.
“It’ll be up to them if the house can still be occupied or not,” he adds.
According to police the tenants are not inside the home at this time while they await the inspection results to see whether or not they can return.
Our crew who went to the scene spoke with a neighbor who reported hearing the crash and ran out with a fire extinguisher to put out flames because the vehicle caught fire.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation.
