SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The Bruins are not the only local hockey team playing in the playoffs tonight. The Springfield Falcons also hit the ice.

The Falcons headed into the AHL Eastern Conference Semifinals tonight after defeating the Manchester Monarchs in the quarterfinals.

They played at the MassMutual Center in their quest for the Calder Cup, as they took on the Syracuse Crunch.

Things didn’t start off well though for the team. They were down 4 to 1 after the 1st period and weren’t able to make a come-back.

The Syracuse Crunch went on to win the game 5 to 2.

This gives Syracuse a 1 – 0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Springfield Falcons will look to rebound tomorrow in game two at the MassMutual Center at 7:00 p.m.
