Motorcyclist Taken to Baystate Medical Center with Critical Injuries

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WGGB) — Police are investigating a motorcycle accident in Wilbraham this afternoon that has sent the driver to the hospital with critical injuries.

Emergency personnel were notified of the single motor vehicle crash at around 3:30 p.m. today.

We spoke with police on scene and they report that the motorcyclist was traveling on Crane Hill Road when he came around a turn and hit a patch of sand.  That’s when he lost control, and fell to one side with the bike skidding off the road and ending up in a woody area right nearby the road itself.

The unidentified motorcyclist has been transported by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with critical injuries according to the Wilbraham Police Department.

The accident occurred about half-way up Crane Hill Road.

Our crew reports that police did mark the area with spray paint where he hit the sandy patch. They continue to investigate this crash.

The area has since been re-opened to traffic.
