Stoughton man Charged in Agawam College Student’s death

EVAN BARDCANTON (WGGB) — The Norfolk Distict Attorney’s Office charged a Stoughton man with drunk driving in a crash that killed a 20-year-old Curry College student from Agawam Saturday morning.

Sean Jackman, 24, was charged with operating under the influence, motor vehicle homicide, speeding and marked lanes violation.

Police say 20-year-old Evan Bard was a passenger in a Toyota Carolla being driven by Jackman when it hit a wall and crashed into a tree just after midnight Saturday morning in Canton.

Bard was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackman suffered head injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Bard was a nursing major and member of the cheerleading team.

Curry College posted condolences on their Facebook page adding, “The Bard Family would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers which mean so much during this difficult time. They also would like to thank Evan’s teachers, classmates, and teammates for making her time at Curry a happy one.”

Authorities said Jackman is expected to be arraigned Monday at Boston Medical Center where he is recovering from the crash.
