SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) — Just in time for summer, gas prices are starting to inch their way up.
According to GasBuddy.com, the average price in the Springfield area rose almost five cents in the past week to $3.46 a gallon. Nationally, prices jumped about six cents, which is still 15 cents lower than a year ago.
GasBuddy analysts say a number of factors including tightening supply, caused in part by the EPA mandated summer switch-over to a cleaner blend.
