Police: Man Made Threat Against Holyoke Medical Center, Arrested

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — A West Springfield Man is under arrest after he allegedly made a threat against Holyoke Medical Center.

Police told ABC40 that 44-year-old Jerel Lear was upset about an incident at the hospital room and threatened that he was going to drive his jeep into the emergency room.

When officers showed up to Holyoke Medical Center they found Lear sitting in his jeep in the emergency room parking lot. Police say Lear drove away and was stopped a short time later. Police say Lear was intoxicated and they took him into custody.

Lear is charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and threats to commit a crime.

Police say that it is unlikely Lear would have been able to carry out that crime because of security beams in place in front of the emergency room.
