Asparagus Ice Cream: A Flavor of the Season!
HADLEY, Mass (WGGB)- It’s the time of the year to grow food. Asparagus is one of the Pioneer Valley’s best vegetables. Some eat asparagus raw, and others prefer it roasted, grilled or steamed. Customers at Flayvors: Cook Farm enjoy Asparagus Ice Cream.
The response for the ice cream’s taste, usually positive. “I don’t usually eat asparagus, but it is really good ice cream!” says Hadley resident Charlie Fahey.
Even though most everyone is willing to give the flavor a try, sometimes the response isn’t as enthusiastic. “They make faces and I ask, if they like asparagus… when the response is ‘no’ I am not surprised they don’t like it because it tastes just like the vegetable” says owner of Flayvor Ice Cream, Beth Cook.
The taste of the ice cream isn’t overbearing, even though it is made with a whole pound of cooked asparagus per gallon of ice cream.
Unfortuantely the calories still exist, but who wouldn’t want to substitute a daily serving of veggies for a scoop of ice cream!
