Relay For Life Held in Agawam

Relay4Life

AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB) — Tonight was the Relay For Life in Agawam at the high school on Cooper Street.

The Relay For Life is a walk designed to not only remember those impacted by cancer, but also raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

This was the second year the Relay has been put on in Agawam.

Organizers have been able to raise about $4,000 more than the American Cancer Society’s goal of $50,000 for the event.

“We hope to have this be a Relay that grows every year more and more. We have more survivors that we celebrated this year than last year. And that’s what it’s really all about. It’s about celebrating,” says Janine Iacolo who’s the event chair.

Over 400 people participated in the Relay.
