United Airlines is getting its 787s back in the air.

The planes are returning after a four-month grounding because of smoldering batteries on 787s owned by two other airlines. The incidents included an emergency landing of one plane, and a fire on another.

United’s first 787 flight on Monday is scheduled for 11 a.m. from Houston to Chicago.

United says it is going to initially use 787s on domestic flights. It plans to restart international flights with new Denver-to-Tokyo service June 10.

United Continental Holdings Inc. has six of the planes. It says four have gotten the redesigned battery system from plane maker Boeing. The other two planes will be fixed in the coming days, United says.
