Federal Officials:Tamerlan Tsarnaev Took Part in a 2011 Triple Homicide in Waltham
BOSTON, Mass. (WGGB/AP) — The Chechen immigrant who was killed by police today took part in a triple homicide that occurred in Waltham back in 2011 along with the assistance of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the now deceased Boston Marathon bombing suspect.
ABC is reporting that Ibragim Todashev was getting ready to sign a statement in front of the FBI and state and federal officials admitting that he and Tsarnaev took part in the triple homicide when he lunged at an FBI agent with a knife. He was shot dead at the scene by authorities.
According to a federal law enforcement official that CNN spoke to, Todashev confessed to slashing the throats of three people in the Waltham killings while also fingering Tsarnaev in their deaths.
Ibragim Todashev was a 27-year-old mixed martial arts fighter. He was killed at his Orlando townhouse in Florida today while meeting with officials on the statement.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, an aspiring boxer, was also killed by police in a shootout days after the April 15 bombings. His younger brother, Dzhokhar, survived and is charged with carrying out the attack that killed three people and wounded more than 260.
