REGION (WGGB) — On the second day of a forecasted heat wave, we have broken a record high temperature.
It reached 94 on the thermometer Friday at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, where the official records are kept.
That beats the previous record set back in 1944 of 93 degrees.
Most other cities and towns in the area also eclipsed 90:
- Westfield – 96
- Orange – 93
- Greenfield – 92
Saturday is set to be another hot one, with projected high around 92. For those of you in Springfield, don’t forget that the city is opening a few cooling centers for those who need it.
Stay cool and safe!
