High Water Flow Could Make Deerfield River Dangerous For Recreation Use

river

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mass. (WGGB) — People are being encouraged to avoid swimming or tubing in the Deerfield River.

Brookfield Renewable Energy Group, which runs hydropower facilities on the river, issued a news release discouraging recreation use because of high flow levels.

Flows are expected to reach 900 cubic feet per second because of the recent rainfall, according to the release.

If you use the river Brookfield is advising you to avoid dams and structures like powerhouses and electric substations.
