REGION (WGGB) — This weekend marks the two year anniversary of the June 1, 2011 tornado.
The devastating storm touched down around 4:00 p.m. that afternoon and cut a swath of damage from Westfield to Sturbridge.
As the communities impacted continue to rebuild and get back to some sense of normal, ABC40 takes a look back at that day certainly most in the area won’t soon forget.

REGION (WGGB) – The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF3 tornado touched down in Western Massachusetts.

BRIMFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A Brimfield campground was right in the path of the tornado, where it claimed another life. “We watched it, it came around the corner and we ran” said Kate Twarowski.
Remembering the Lives Lost in West Springfield
WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The sadness of the destruction caused by the tornado was amplified when it was learned that the storm also claimed three lives, two of them from West Springfield.
