Storms Cause Scattered Power Outages

power outageWEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Several rounds of severe weather swept through western mass this afternoon… bringing with it driving wind and rain.

Several trees came down in some areas.

The storms caused many in western Massachusetts to lose power for a time.

Western Mass. Electric has restored powered to nearly all its local customers.

At last check, 1 customer remained without power in Springfield.

That’s down significantly from about 400 WMECo customers in West Springfield alone without power just after the storms tonight.

Meanwhile, National Grid is reporting only 4 customers are without power in Belchertown… though earlier there were about 1,000 between the four western Mass. counties.
