PALMER, Mass. (WGGB) — Mohegan Sun says that their proposed project in Palmer will near $1 billion with the added plans for an additional hotel and new outdoor water and theme park.
In a statement released Friday, Mohegan Sun Massachusetts says that the new proposed development on the site will consist of an 70,000 square foot indoor and outdoor water park, which will be connected to a 250 room hotel.
This new hotel proposal will be in addition to the 300 room hotel slated for the main casino property.
The outdoor portion of the park will go through the natural wooded terrain off of Route 32. It will also include other outdoor activities, including kayaking and zip lining.
“These exciting new additions to Mohegan Sun Massachusetts further illustrate why this project will be a true a regional destination – attracting thousands from across Massachusetts and the Northeast and having a significant impact on travel and tourism in the state. Mohegan Sun’s premier gaming and resort amenities, together with our first-rate entertainment, dining and fashion retail options and now the adventure-themed water park, will provide a memorable experience to visitors from all over,” says Todd Finard, Chief Executive of Finard Properties, the Boston-based firm Mohegan Sun has partnered with for the project.
The addition of this hotel and water park makes Mohegan Sun’s total planned investment in Palmer nearly $1 billion.
Mohegan Sun Massachusetts is competing with Hard Rock and MGM Springfield for the sole casino license in Western Massachusetts.
