JB’s Scoops for Melanoma

Scoops for MelanomaEAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (wggb) — Jeff Brown, owner of JB’s Ice Cream in East Longmeadow and Michael Carney, a local police officer are both survivors of melanoma. To help raise awareness about the dangers of sun exposure they have joined forces for the last 4 years to hold a benefit this weekend called Scoops for Melanoma.

The event benefited a local melanoma awareness research and support group called Sailing for Success as well as the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care.

The event, which started at noon both Saturday and Sunday and went until 10pm is meant to get the word out that melanoma can be deadly unless detected early.
