SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Some big changes were unveiled Tuesday at Tapley Court Apartments.
Home City Housing showed off $3 million worth of improvements on the rental apartments inside the historic school.
Tapley has been in Springfield’s Bay neighborhood for over 125 years and was converted into apartments in 1993.
This round of improvements focused on preserving the building’s historic features while also making it more comfortable for residents.
“It’s nice to have everybody come look at the apartments and see that they’re really, really nice. Not everybody knows how nice they actually look. Everyone who comes in gets so surprised. They’re like oh my God, they’re so nice!!” says Janet Santiago, a resident of Tapley Court.
Residents say one of their favorite renovations are the new energy efficient windows.
