SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Police have made an arrest in the murder of 22-year-old Angel Llorens.
Monday afternoon, 22-year-old Benjamin Rivera of Springfield was arrested and charged in connection with Llorens’ death on May 22 in the city’s Forest Park neighborhood.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney says that Rivera allegedly shot Llorens following a dispute involving rival “car clubs” and a stolen sticker from Llorens’ motor vehicle.
The shooting, Delaney adds, was not gang or drug related.
Rivera is being charges with murder, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition, and discharging a firearm. He was arraigned Tuesday in Springfield District Court.
Delaney notes that the investigation remains ongoing.
