Supporters React to Senate Debate

MarkeyGomez Signs BSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — There was limited seating at the WGBY studios Tuesday night, so Gomez and Markey supporters waited outside in the rain, many of them holding signs.

Other Gomez supporters held a viewing party at Samuel’s Sports Bar at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.

Over at McCaffrey’s Public House on Main Street Markey supporters watched their candidate.

ABC40 caught up with people on both sides.

“I thought it was a great debate. I thought Congressman Markey did a great job. I think he got out the differences between him and Mr. Gomez. I think he made that very clear. I think he spoke very well on the importance of him going to the United States Senate,” says Candy Glazer who’s the Longmeadow Democratic Committee Chair.

Aaron Davenport, a Gomez supporter told us, “I find Gabriel Gomez to be an intriguing candidate, a very brave American.  I feel that his independent views are what we need in Massachusetts.”

The special election will be held on June 25.
