The Holyoke youth task force put up a mural they painted on the side of Dillon’s Package Store on High Street.
It’s up in place of the signs advertising alcohol that the teens were able to convince a number of city alcohol merchants to remove.
They say other teens will question why they’re removing the signs but they want to help them make good decisions.
“They’ll stop and be like ‘why are you doing that, its stupid.’ and when they ask us why, they’re like ‘oh they really have a good head on their shoulders, and encourage us to stop drinking while we are teens.’ , “ explains Isabel Negroni who’s with the Holyoke Youth Task Force.
Studies show that when teens see more than 25 signs advertising alcohol a month they are more likely to drink.
