(CNN) — Americans are expected to spend more than $13 billion this Father’s Day.
The average American will shell out about $120 to honor dad this year, according to the National Retail Federation. That’s an increase of two percent over last year.
The NRF says many givers will splurge on outings, like sporting events or dinner, or electronic gadgets, including tablets and GPS systems.
Dads can also expect clothing and gift cards.
Still searching for the perfect gift? Consumer Reports has a few ideas.
If Dad’s looking for a tablet, the $400 Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is recommended for its versatility.
If Dad likes video games, Consumer Reports suggests the Sony Playstation Vita, which will let him stream content from the PS4 once it’s released later this year.
Other gift ideas from the magazine include:
- A full-sized HD camcorder, which will give dad better image quality than a smartphone or tablet.
- A pair of high-quality headphones
- A bike helmet
- A wine chiller
If you really want to give Dad a treat, Orbitz is recommending some Father’s Day getaways.
At Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch outside Las Vegas, Dad can get behind the wheel of a real race car on more than four miles of track.
Another option, take Dad golfing at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina or treat him to a spa day at Chicago’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
